The Construction Safety Professional will oversee the implementation and enforcement of safety policies on various construction projects, including those involving high-voltage electrical systems. This position requires a proactive approach to hazard identification, risk mitigation, and fostering a strong safety culture. The candidate will work closely with site leadership, contractors, and teams to ensure a safe and compliant workplace, especially in high-risk environments.
Job Responsibilities
Safety Program Management : Develop and implement site-specific safety programs tailored to general construction and high-voltage electrical work. Ensure compliance with OSHA standards and other regulatory requirements. Conduct site audits and inspections, identifying hazards and recommending corrective actions.
HVE Safety Oversight : Monitor and manage safety protocols for projects involving high-voltage systems. Provide specialized training and guidance on working safely in high-voltage environments. Coordinate with electrical teams to assess and mitigate specific risks related to HVE operations.
Training and Communication : Conduct safety orientations and regular toolbox talks for all site personnel. Deliver targeted training sessions on construction and high-voltage safety best practices.
Incident Management : Investigate incidents or near-misses, determine root causes, and implement preventive measures. Prepare and maintain detailed reports on safety performance and incident trends.
Collaboration : Work closely with project managers, forepersons, and subcontractors to ensure adherence to safety protocols. Act as a liaison with regulatory agencies during audits or inspections.
Job Qualifications
Minimum of 5 years of construction safety experience, with at least some exposure to high-voltage electrical (HVE) projects.
Knowledge of OSHA regulations, particularly those related to construction and electrical safety.
Certifications such as CHST, CSP, ASP, or similar safety credentials are highly preferred.
Proven ability to develop and deliver effective safety training programs.
Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence teams and foster a safety-first culture.
Attention to detail and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing risks.
