PSG is a community-based social services organization dedicated to helping individuals and families through dynamic and innovative programming. We are seeking a Certified Peer Support Specialist to join our Day Treatment/IOP program in Kenosha, WI.
JOB SUMMARY:
The Peer Support Specialist serves as a role model, mentor, advocate and motivator to individuals with a history of substance use to help promote long-term recovery and prevent relapse. The Peer Support Specialist must demonstrate an ability to share personal recovery experiences and to develop authentic peer-to-peer relationships. The position services adult referred through the Day Treatment/IOP programs. The position also supports and assists consumers in working toward their individualized recovery goals. The Peer support Specialist works within a multi-disciplinary team to help consumers in their recovery journey.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF A PEER SUPPORT SPECIALIST:
- Participate as an integral part of the person's identified recovery team.
- Communicate, collaborate, and support providers of family teams.
- Provide recipients with information and insight about recovery.
- Exercise judgment to intervene as an advocate in school, the community and during emergency and crisis situations.
- Provide support groups to interested service recipients and support in connecting service recipients with community organizations.
- Attend team meetings.
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle safely and obey all traffic laws and safely transport clients as needed.
LOCATION: PSG Kenosha Clinic and offices. Local travel is required as needed within Kenosha County with mileage reimbursement
SCHEDULE: Typical hours are Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm with occasional evening hours to accommodate client's availability.

SALARY: $18.00 per hour
REQUIREMENTS:
- Must have reliable transportation on a daily basis, a valid driver's license, and automobile insurance.
- Must be certified or in the process of being certified through the state of Wisconsin as a Peer Support Specialist.
- At minimum, must have a high school diploma / GED / equivalent.
