Location : Largo, FL
Schedule : 8am-5pm Monday-Friday
Contract length : 30-days (temp)
Pay rate : $18.75 / hr.
Summary
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing a variety of maintenance and repair tasks, including carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and painting, to ensure the proper functioning and safety of assigned facilities. This role also includes general custodial duties and may require assistance with building operations and security.
Essential Duties :
Maintenance & Repairs :
Perform a variety of maintenance and repair tasks, including carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and painting.
Install, repair, and maintain electrical components (lights, outlets, switches).
Repair and replace plumbing fixtures (faucets, toilets, etc.).
Perform minor repairs to HVAC systems, equipment, and concrete.
Building Operations :
Manage building security (lock / unlock doors, alarms).
Move furniture and equipment.
Set up rooms for meetings and events.
Facilities Management :
Order and maintain inventory of supplies.
Inspect buildings and grounds for maintenance needs.
Report safety and maintenance issues.
Custodial Duties :
Clean and maintain facilities (sweep, mop, vacuum, dust).
Sanitize restrooms and replenish supplies.
Clean light fixtures and replace bulbs.
Safety & Compliance :
Adhere to safety protocols and work practices.
Participate in safety training and staff meetings.
Maintain confidentiality of child, family, and staff information.
Other Duties :
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications :
Education : High school diploma or GED. Graduation from technical trade school preferred.
Experience : Two (2) years of experience performing general maintenance and repair duties, preferably in an institutional or educational environment.
Languages : Bilingual preferred : English / Spanish
Background : Successful completion of a Level Ill background screening, local criminal record check, and drug screening prior to hiring.
Licenses & Certifications : Must possess a valid Florida driver's license and certifications necessary to drive company vehicles to Tarpon Springs, St. Pete, Largo, and Clearwater.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :
Operation and use of hand and power tools and equipment.
Basic record keeping techniques.
Methods, equipment, and materials used in general maintenance work.
Health and safety procedures.
Proper methods of storing equipment, materials, and supplies.
Basic theory of electricity.
Basic theory and practice of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems.
Operational hazards and standard safety practices necessary in the area of assigned work.
Ability to :
Perform required maintenance and repair duties necessary to maintain assigned facilities.
Perform a variety of carpentry, electrical, painting, and plumbing repair and maintenance work.
Perform routine emergency repairs and adjustments to buildings and facilities.
Maintain facilities in a clean, safe, and secure condition.
Use common cleaning equipment and supplies safely and efficiently.
Move and arrange furniture and equipment for meetings and special events.
Observe and report safety hazards and the need for maintenance and repair.
Learn the policies, procedures, and codes related to building, maintenance, and repair.
Perform a full range of semi-skilled custodial, building maintenance, and repair work.
Repair and maintain a variety of mechanical equipment.
Read and interpret sketches, drawings, diagrams, and blueprints.
Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
Establish and maintain a cooperative and effective working relationship with others.
