Electrical System Design:
- Design and develop electrical systems for maritime vessels including power generation, distribution, and control systems.
- Create detailed electrical schematics and layout designs for various vessel types.
- Develop specifications for electrical equipment and components, including generators, transformers, switchboards, lighting, and communication systems.
Integration and Installation:
- Ensure integration of electrical systems with other shipboard systems such as HVAC, propulsion, and navigation systems.
- Oversee the installation of electrical systems aboard vessels, ensuring compliance with safety and performance standards.
- Provide support during commissioning and testing phases to ensure systems work as intended.
Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure all designs adhere to maritime regulations, codes, and standards, such as those set by the International Maritime Organization (IMO), Classification Societies, and other relevant authorities.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards for electrical systems and equipment in hazardous marine environments.
Troubleshooting and Optimization:
- Conduct fault diagnosis and troubleshooting for electrical systems.
- Suggest improvements and optimizations for existing electrical systems on vessels to improve efficiency, safety, and reliability.
Collaboration & Reporting:
- Collaborate with naval architects, mechanical engineers, and other specialists to ensure integrated design solutions.
- Prepare technical documentation, including reports, specifications, and project plans.
- Provide technical support to shipyards and contractors during the construction phase.
Project Management:
- Support project managers in coordinating and overseeing electrical design projects from concept through to completion.
- Assist in cost estimation and budgeting for electrical design projects.
