Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) for our Pre-OP and Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). As a Pre-Op RN, you will play a role in preparing the patient for surgery, including reviewing consents and placing an IV. As a PACU RN, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality care to patients recovering from anesthesia, ensuring their comfort and safety during the recovery process.
Duties
- Place IV appropriately, per orders.
- Review consents and ensure patient and family are comfortable with everything leading up to surgery.
- Monitor patients' vital signs and overall condition post-surgery, ensuring adherence to established standards of care.
- Administer medications and IV fluids as prescribed, including performing IV insertion when necessary.
- Provide immediate post-operative care, including assessing patient pain levels and managing discomfort effectively.
- Collaborate with surgical teams to ensure continuity of care and communicate any concerns regarding patient recovery.
- Educate patients and their families on post-operative care instructions, including potential complications and follow-up care.
- Maintain accurate patient records, including documentation of assessments, interventions, and responses to treatment.
- Assist in the development of individualized care plans for patients based on their specific needs and medical history.
- Ensure compliance with all hospital policies and procedures, as well as state and federal regulations.
Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
- Current, or able to gain, BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications upon hire.
- Previous experience in PACU, ICU, ER, or similar critical care settings is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of trauma medicine practices and standards of care.
- Experience with geriatrics and senior care is highly desirable.
- Experience working with pediatric patients is an advantage.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to educate patients effectively.
- Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

Pay: From $36.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week
