Summary
The Mechanical Estimator serves in a key role in preparing accurate cost estimates for projects involving pump repair and related mechanical equipment repair. This role requires a strong understanding of mechanical systems, strong analytical skills, industry knowledge, and the ability to work closely with engineering, procurement, on-floor skilled technicians, and project management teams to ensure successful project execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Review project specifications and technical drawings to determine project requirements.
· Develop detailed cost estimates for engineered repairs and mechanical systems, including labor and materials.
· Identify and evaluate project risks, opportunities, and constraints.
- Communicate with vendors and suppliers to obtain pricing for equipment and materials.
- Collaborate with technical team to ensure estimates align with project design and requirements.
- Analyze historical data and current market trends to maintain competitive pricing.
- Prepare and present bid proposals to management and clients.
- Support the sales team by providing technical input and cost analysis during the bidding process.
- Monitor and update cost databases to reflect changes in material costs, labor rates, and industry standards.
- Ensure estimates are compliant with ProFlow’s quality standards and safety protocols.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3 or more years of proven experience as a mechanical estimator, preferably with rotating pump equipment, or industrial equipment industry.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting mechanical drawings and specifications.
- Strong knowledge of pumping systems, fluid mechanics, and related equipment.
Skills
- Proficiency in estimation software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.).
- Problem-solving mindset with the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in data management.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and time-management skills.
