IT Field Technician

Position Summary: Currently seeking Technicians for a long term opportunity to aid with the installations of network devices such as routers, switches, and other related systems.

Operate and install Windows / Linux / Open Source systems, servers and other system integration related components to ensure high levels of availability and security of the core organizational applications. This individual also participates in the planning and implementation of system monitoring, maintenance and support of all networked software and operating systems. Furthers Training and education

The ideal candidate must possess the following: Technicians MUST have experience working with various cables that include, but are not limited to: Category 5, Category 6, single and multi -mode fiber optic cables. Cable installation includes pulling, placement, termination, testing, and labeling. Knowledge of Telecom systems, TCP/IP networks, and wireless solutions required. BICSI cert needed. Cage build, rack install, fiber & copper cabling, (Testing abilities a plus) labeling.

Job Responsibilities:

• Support the Project Manager with planning and the development of long-term strategic goals for systems and software in conjunction with end-users and department managers.
• Conduct research on client/server hardware, software, and protocols in support of procurement and development efforts.
• Complete field problem tickets and help desk calls from end-users to resolve application and software issues within servers, databases, and other mission-critical systems.
• Implement policies, procedures, and technologies (including firewalls) to ensure Linux/Open Source system security through secure system access, monitoring, control, and routine security evaluations.
• Gauge the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems; develop and implement strategies for improvement of further leveraging these systems.
• Pulling and routing CAT5 or CAT 6 in a large commercial environment
• Installing fiber (willing to train)
• Terminating data jacks
• Installing support structures (ladders, racks, j-hooks)
• Must be comfortable working on lifts and ladders.
• Ability to install various types of data switches

Basic scope of work includes:

Pulling, routing, installing and terminating structured cabling infrastructure in commercial and residential.

1 years experience installing voice and data systems in a commercial environment.
Ability to provide two professional references.
Valid driver s license and a clean driving record.
