Position Title:
APPAREL TECHNICAL DESIGNER
We are looking for a skilled Apparel Technical Designer to join our innovative product development team. In this role, you’ll play a key part in transforming design concepts into well-crafted garments. Working closely with our Design team and overseas factories, you’ll ensure that each piece is produced with accuracy and attention to detail. Key Responsibilities:
Tech Pack Creation and Maintenance
- Develop and maintain comprehensive tech packs, which include technical sketches, detailed spec sheets, construction details, and colorways.
- Ensure that spec pages, bill of materials (BOMs), and artwork are accurately documented, providing clear communication to production teams and factories.
- Continuously update and refine tech packs as design iterations and modifications occur, ensuring the most current information is accessible to all stakeholders.
- Collaborate with the design team and overseas manufacturers to ensure the accurate execution of designs
- Ensure that all production packages are processed accurately and delivered on time, meeting all deadlines in alignment with the company’s design calendar.
- Facilitate communication between internal teams and external vendors to ensure that all specifications are clearly understood and executed.
Fit and Measurement Specifications
- Work on style specifications, including developing precise measurement charts and size grading, to ensure that garments fit according to design intent.
- Participate in fit sessions and provide feedback on garment construction, fit, and functionality, ensuring that all changes are updated in tech packs and communicated effectively to production teams.
Quality Control and Pre-Production Issue Resolution
- Troubleshoot and resolve pre-production and production issues, working proactively to address any discrepancies between sample garments and original design specifications.
- Maintain consistent communication with factories and vendors to manage fit, construction, and quality concerns, ensuring all issues are resolved before bulk production
Sample Management
- Manage the flow of incoming and outgoing samples, ensuring that samples are organized, tracked, and reviewed according to the production timeline.
- Coordinate with the design and product teams to review sample prototypes, ensuring they align with the technical and aesthetic vision of the collection.
- Document feedback from sample evaluations and communicate necessary changes to vendors and manufacturers.
Material Coordination
- Oversee the coordination of fabric, trim, and other production materials, ensuring that all components are sourced and available to meet production schedules.
- Work closely with the design team to ensure that all materials meet design expectations, including fabric performance, quality, and color standards.
Special Projects
- Take ownership of any special projects or assignments, which may involve research on new fabrics, construction methods, or garment technologies.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives, suggesting ways to enhance efficiency in the development and production processes.
Skills and Qualifications:
- 1 years of experience in technical design within the fashion industry, preferably in contemporary or high-end fashion.
- Strong proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Excel.
- Extensive knowledge of garment construction, pattern-making, and fabrication techniques.
- Excellent understanding of size grading, spec development, and fit analysis.
- Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
- Problem-solving mindset, capable of addressing issues in pre-production and production with a focus on efficiency and quality control.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including design, product development, and production teams, as well as overseas vendors and manufacturers.
