POSITION DESCRIPTION: MEDICAL ASSISTANT
Job Type: Full-Time, Part-Time
Locations: Ann Arbor and Westland
Shift Schedule: 12-hour and 8-hour shifts
Medical Assistant responsibilities:
- Obtain vital signs, medication lists, and medical histories from patients.
- Perform drug tests, TB tests, vaccination, injections, X-ray, urinalysis (DOT and non-DOT), strep tests, flu tests, covid tests, mono tests, breathing treatment, EKGs, IV therapy, blood draws, bandaging/splinting, vision tests, and assisting MD, NP, and PA with procedures.
- Proper specimen collection, storage, and preparation for transportation.
- Stock and maintain supplies in patient rooms and lab.
- Perform room turnover and maintain the cleanliness of patient rooms.
- Maintain patient files, records, and other information.
- Complete appropriate patient documentation on EMR.
- Maintain appropriate communication and good interpersonal skills with staff and patients.
- Utilize formal channels of communication to report concerns, personal requests, and patient issues.
- Being properly dressed according to the approved dress code.
- Adhere to guidelines concerning working hours and break periods.
- Manage time effectively to complete all patient treatments and related activities as assigned.
- Maintain professional standards and procedures ensuring compliance with Company policies and with applicable regulations.
Requirements:
- A high school diploma, GED or equivalent
- Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program or Emergency Medical Technician program.
- Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers (AHA) or CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer (American Red Cross) certified
Preferred requirements:
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Licensed Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)
- Phlebotomy certificate
- Experience with X-rays
- Worked as a Medical Assistant or Emergency Medical Technician for more than a year.
