Description

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Under the supervision of the Program Director, the Assistant Director of the residential program has primary responsibility for managing the flow of clients into and out of the residential facility.  He or she must develop and maintain good working relationships with all client referral sources and other related mental health services.  The Assistant Director of the residential program is responsible for monitoring all treatment planning and charting of residential clients.  In addition, the Assistant Director of the residential program must:

                                                                                                                                   

A.        Review all charts and client records on an ongoing basis to ensure confidentiality, security, and compliance with agency policies and procedures and applicable laws and regulations.  In addition, review the development and implementation of client treatment/rehabilitation plans.

 

B.         Supervise Counselors, as assigned by the Program Director.  This includes conducting regular ongoing supervision sessions, either individually or in small groups, at least monthly, involving the Program Director when appropriate.  Prepare formal written evaluations for probationary staff in a timely manner, and for regular staff as needed, at least annually.

 

C.        Ensure that individual staff counselors complete charting and treatment planning in an appropriate timeframe.

 

D.        Monitor medication logs with the Program Director or Program Consultant to ensure accuracy, conformity with medication policies, and needs for refills of medications.  Provide follow-up with clients and/or physicians to keep prescriptions current.

 

E.         Promote the social rehabilitation philosophy among program staff and clients.

 

F.         Upon assignment by the Program Director, assist in the screening, hiring, and supervision of fill-in counselors, volunteers, and interns, bringing any supervision or mediation issues to the attention of the Program Director.

 

G.        Assist in the training and evaluation of counselors, fill-in counselors, volunteers, and interns.

 

H.        Advocate for, coordinate, and actively participate in the maintenance of the program facility.

 

I.          Participate in the program's rotational on-call system.

 

J.         Respond to program emergencies in a professional, thorough, and timely manner.

 

K.        Upon assignment, coordinate the staff work schedule, including making arrangements for Program Director-approved vacations, holidays, illnesses, compensatory time off, and fill-in coverage.

 

L.         Coordinate the collection of client data on the agency's client data forms.  Collect the information necessary to produce monthly billings.  Submit both to the Program Director in a timely manner.

 

M.        Perform, as is necessary and appropriate, all duties of the Counselor position, including intake interviewing, treatment plan development, counseling, crisis intervention, and discharge planning.

 

N.        Attend staff meetings, supervision sessions, and other programmatic and/or administrative meetings, as assigned by the Program Director.

 

O.        Serve as a role model for positive employee relations, professional functioning, and for adherence to the principles of social rehabilitation.

 

P.         Comply with all applicable federal, state and local governmental laws and regulations, as well as all agency policies and procedures, including the code of ethics.

 

Q.        Act in the capacity of the Program Director when designated by the Director of Clinical Services or other senior management team member.

 

R.        Perform other related duties as assigned by the Program Director, including but not limited to meeting attendance, preparation of reports, and completion of special projects.

 

 

 

 

Qualifications


TITLE:                                    ASSISTANT DIRECTOR (San Francisco Residential)

 

ACCOUNTABILITY: To Program Director

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:       

 

  • Masters Degree in a mental health related field. Experience may be substituted for degree requirements, depending on nature and length of experience.
  • At least three years' experience in a community mental health program, including supervisory experience.
  • Specific experience in residential treatment and/or knowledge of social rehabilitation is preferred.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with staff, clients, and other providers both orally and in writing.
  • Must, in the sole judgment of Progress Foundation, demonstrate good judgment and emotional stability.
  • At all times must be able to negotiate several flights of stairs multiple times during each work shift, and must be able to lift and carry 20 lb. packages multiple times during the work shift.
  • Must demonstrate ongoing clearance with the California State Department of Social Services, Community Care Licensing Division, allowing direct contact with program clients.
  • Must maintain training certification and demonstrated capacity to perform basic First Aid and CPR.
