Job Purpose
Progress Rail Leasing is seeking a candidate to fill its Director of Leasing position. This position is responsible for identifying and developing business opportunities in the railcar leasing space across a variety of different industries. The candidate will be responsible for initiating potential customer identification, developing and enhancing a business relationship between that customer and Progress Rail Leasing, with the ultimate goal of establishing them as a Progress Rail Leasing customer. This position is located in the Chicago area, will require 25-40% travel and will report directly to the VP of Railcar Leasing.

Key Job Elements
- Day to day relationship management of Leasing customers throughout the Midwest and Western United States;
- Uncovering Leasing and Railcar acquisition opportunities through new and existing customers;
- Develop relationships with new customers seeking new leasing opportunities;
- Negotiation of Leasing opportunities including pricing, legal contracts, and coordination of delivery and repair requirements;
- Construction of financial models to determine that new Leasing opportunities meet internal financial requirements;
- An ability to work with cross functional teams including Accounting, Legal, and Mechanical personnel;
- An ability to cold call new customers, travel extensively to meet with new and existing customers, and attend various conferences to develop new contacts.
Education / Training
- College degree from a four year institution is required, with an MBA as a strong preference.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum of 5 years in the Railcar Industry;
- 2 years experience in the Railcar Leasing Industry;
- Experience working with both Customer Service and Sales departments;
- Thorough knowledge of the various railcar types and a solid rolodex of already established contacts;
- Strong management experience and working knowledge of Microsoft Office systems (Excel, Word and Power point).
