Job Overview
The Locomotive Service Engineer will be responsible for ensuring that all mechanical and electrical systems of a locomotive are functioning properly. This involves providing expert technical support to customers and colleagues, investigating and resolving product issues, and maintaining accurate records of work performed.
Key Skills
- Deep knowledge of locomotive mechanics and electrical systems;
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills;
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
- Familiarity with safety protocols and adherence to company policies;
- Ability to lift, carry, push or pull up to 50 lbs., walk frequently, and perform sustained bending, crouching, stopping, kneeing, squatting and overhead reaching and climbing ladders;
Requirements
- Associates degree or equivalent experience;
- Medium level of oral and written communications skills;
- Medium level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with customers and workforce;
- Medium level of analytical ability where problems are complex;
- Knowledge of fundamental inspection and reliability procedures and processes;
- Ability to read Engineering drawings;
- Knowledge of shop practices and basic machinery;
- Willingness to relocate;
- Ability to work as a part of a multi shift seven (7) day a week operation;
