About the Role
This position involves removing, fabricating, fitting, and welding railcar parts, components, and structures. The ideal candidate will have mechanical aptitude and be able to read precision instruments and gauges. They will also work from blueprints and technical drawings, using hand and power tools, including pneumatic tools, cutting torches, and welding machines.
Key Responsibilities
- Remove, fabricate, fit, and weld railcar parts, components, and structures
- Repair or replace worn mechanical components
- Fabricate, assemble, or disassemble manufactured products
- Read blueprints, technical drawings, and tape measures
- Read and understand work orders and record repairs correctly
Requirements
- Mechanical aptitude
- Ability to read precision instruments and gauges
- Work from blueprints and technical drawings
- Capable use of hand and power tools, including pneumatic tools, cutting torches, and welding machines
