What are the responsibilities and job description for the Direct Care Worker position at Progressive Alternatives?
Duties:
- Provide direct care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities, hospice care patients, or seniors in need of memory care.
- Assist with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
- Administer medication and monitor health conditions as directed by a nurse or healthcare professional.
- Implement individualized care plans and follow established protocols for patient care.
- Assist with case management tasks, such as coordinating appointments and communicating with healthcare providers.
- Ensure the privacy and confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Provide emotional support and companionship to patients and their families.
- Manage conflicts or challenging behaviors in a calm and professional manner.
Experience:
- Previous experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, hospice care patients, or seniors in memory care is preferred.
- Knowledge of basic nursing principles and practices is a plus.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Compassionate and empathetic nature to provide quality care to vulnerable populations.
