What are the responsibilities and job description for the DAS Supervisor position at Progressive Communications Inc.?
The role of the DAS Supervisor is to is to perform the best customer-service experience for DAS system installations and DAS head end upgrade projects, overseeing field technicians and communicating project status updates with local GCs, GEs, AHJs and/or building owners. The DAS Supervisor’s job is a hands-on, on-site, technical, high-travel and field-management position.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 100% of the time
- Complete tasks on scheduled date and within a specified timeframe while offering world-class customer service
- Comply with protocols for communicating status and issues related to work orders
- Read and interpret DAS design drawings, blueprints, and installation guides
- Install DAS equipment & components, including, but not limited to the installation of outdoor donor antennas, indoor antennas, coaxial cable, CATV cable, fiber optic cable, CAT 5 cable, CAT 6 cable, DC power cable and other appropriate components to NEC standards
- Terminate coaxial cable: JMA, Andrews, Trilogy, etc.
- Fusion Splicing and Fiber OTDR Testing
- Configure and integrate DAS head end equipment and dry contact alarm monitoring equipment.
- Completing sweep, PIM, and fiber testing
- Keep customer and company informed of progress of installation
- Communicate and coordinate with customer and company any information related to specific safety, local code, and company installation requirements
- Complete site surveys to troubleshoot and design corrective RF and RF/fiber optic installations for existing systems with inadequate coverage
- Mentor and lead less experienced technicians
- Update customer & job documentation
- Document material usage and job-related expenses and timekeeping records to submit in a timely manner
- Provide management with feedback and ideas for continuous improvement
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school degree or equivalent
- 5 years’ experience as a Field Foreman or Field Supervisor
- 5 years’ experience guiding junior technicians while simultaneously managing projects
- Solid understanding of Public Safety/DAS, including modulation techniques, amplifier/antenna/cable theory, link budgets, propagation tools, etc.
- Knowledge of the terminology used in the in-building Public Safety/DAS industry
- Working knowledge of RF testing equipment (i.e. spectrum analyzer, sweep and PIM test equipment)
- Demonstrated ability to use basic hand and power tools needed for installation projects
- Professional manner, appearance, and discretion in engaging customer
- Use standard office equipment such as computers and phones
- Satisfactory background check including state-specific requirements (e.g., fingerprinting)
- Compliance with client-specific requirements (e.g., immunizations, PPE)
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Reliable transportation for coverage area
- Clean background check and clear drug screen
- Self-guided and able to work independently
- Strong organizational skills
CERTIFICATIONS:
Preference will be given to candidates who have prior experience with or are currently holding the below certifications, but we will consider candidates who will commit to attaining these certifications within a year of being hired.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Carry and monitor company phone, be available and responsive during scheduled and non-scheduled hours, except during rest and meal periods as required by applicable state law
- Flexible in working hours as this position will require customer support during non-regular business hours, mandatory overtime on short notice, overnight travel, and/or weekend work as necessary
- Climb ladders and work overhead from an elevated position
- Read blueprints, schematic diagrams, and technical instructions in English
- Use of common hand tools, specialized cable termination tools, and measuring devices, including tape measures, laser measuring devices, calipers, and measuring wheels
- Lift carry, push, or pull up to 75 pounds
- Frequently stand, walk, stoop, kneel, twist, crawl, and extended reach in tight spaces
