Staffing Coordinator LPN Summary:
The LPN Staffing Coordinator at PDI will report to the Director of Nursing (DON) and be responsible for the managing the nursing department staff schedules. A successful LPN Staffing Coordinator should be highly organized and able to ensure that daily staffing requirements and objectives are met. This position will generate, manage, and update the master nursing schedules in HomeBase to make adjustments according to the persons supported requiring nursing services, call-outs, and pre-planned absence. This is an on-call position Monday through Friday and every other weekend, with a guaranteed 40 hour per week and overtime as required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, but not limited to:
- On-call from 7a to 7p and every other weekend to manage scheduling needs and oversee healthcare needs of persons supported.
- Guaranteed a minimum of 40 hours per week, and eligible for overtime if required.
- Daily reviews of scheduling levels and staffing changes with the DON to maintain safe staffing levels for proper nursing care per DDA requirements.
- Produce the nursing schedule monthly in HomeBase and monitor daily for continuous changes as vacancies occur ensuring that staffing requirements are met.
- Communicate with the DON of approved requests for paid time off (PTO), and sick time and ensure those shifts are the covered.
- Communicate effectively with other team members regarding work schedules and coverage.
- Cover at minimum 2 shifts per week in homes to ensure staffing requirements are met, if shifts are open (24 hours per week).
- Remaining hours will be spent on scheduling , assisting the DON with paperwork, audits, training, etc.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Provide healthcare support as prescribed by treating physicians.
- Interpret and Implement Individualized Care Plans.
- Nurses are expected to follow care and medication guidelines implemented by the DDA and PDI.
- Assist in the activities of of our persons supported daily living (ADL) to ensure the safety and integrity of the individual (e.g., bathing, dressing, oral hygiene, toileting, feeding, transporting to appointments and community outings, etc.)
- Administer medications, identify and report medication effectiveness, identify and report adverse side effects, and maintain medication counts for controlled drugs.
- Interpret and Implement Medical Crisis Plans.
- Ensures that medical equipment is maintained according to instructions for use kept clean, and serviceable.
- Work with the medical coordinator to accurately inventory of healthcare supplies for persons supported.
- Charting in PHS ensuring that daily records are maintained and entries are consistent with the orders.
- Assists with shadowing and training, mentoring, and reviewing plans with any new staff members who come to the home.
- Complete training in all our med res homes per the DDA and PDI.
- Maintain all necessary certifications and licensures to remain current.
- Transport persons supported in PDI vehicles as needed.
- Other duties as assigned by the DON.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license required.
- Experience as a staffing coordinator or in a similar position.
- Ability to efficiently manage people and resources.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Outstanding problem-solving skills.
- Valid Tennessee, Kentucky, or Alabama driver’s license
- Satisfactory criminal background check and clear driving record.
- Ability/availability to attend and pass all training courses offered and required.
- Successful Completion of DDA and PDI Core Training
- Valid First Aid/CPR/AED or BLS certification
