Responsibilities

- Familiarize yourself with current state and federal rules and regulations and perform assigned tasks in accordance with facility policy and procedures. ">
- Ensure individuals exercise their rights and are treated with dignity and respect. ">
- Maintain confidentiality of all individuals' personal information. ">
- Implement and document individual goals and objectives. ">
- Be familiar with emergency behavior management techniques, standard precautions, infection control techniques, emergency equipment, and good body mechanics. ">
- Assist individuals with ADLs while promoting independence. ">
- Know the whereabouts of individuals you are directly responsible for at all times. ">
- Attend ISPs meetings and assist in developing the program plan. ">
- Participate in in-service training as required. ">
- Assist new employees with orientation and training. ">
- Contribute to general housekeeping efforts. ">
- Prepare meals according to standardized recipes and designated menus. ">
- Provide transportation, guidance, and support for outings, shopping trips, vacations, home visits, and appointments. ">
- Report medical concerns and incidents immediately. ">
- Administer medications and take vitals using nurse protocols. ">
- Report allegations of abuse or neglect. ">
Qualifications

- High School Diploma or equivalent is required. ">
- Age 18 or older. ">
- Ability to read and comprehend English at an 8th grade level based on standardized testing. ">
- Certified DSP, CPR/First Aid, and Medication Administration certifications are essential. ">
- Valid Illinois driver's license and ability to pass a criminal background check and drug screen. ">
- Able to lift at least 50lbs, daily standing, bending, lifting. ">
- No experience necessary, but prior experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is preferred. ">
