ABOUT THE POSITION
As Progressive’s Portfolio Analyst, you will support our Director of Investments and Fixed Income Portfolio Manager / Lead Trader to maintain customized client portfolios of ESG-screened individual equity and fixed income securities. It is expected that this role will consistently apply Progressive’s investment philosophy, strategies, and portfolio implementation procedures. Once trained, a typical day will include monitoring portfolios for alignment with target asset allocation, responding to requests to raise cash, performing analysis, and proposing potential trades. You will also complete a range of portfolio data maintenance tasks in Tamarac and Bloomberg. On a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis you will be involved in a range of team functions, such as recordkeeping for meetings, calculating investment strategy returns, and updating materials used for client conversations or compliance documentation. As your knowledge develops, you will pursue additional projects and initiatives, such as improvements to ESG and proxy data management and evaluation of process automation tools. Future career growth in this role will be driven by enhancing your portfolio and trading knowledge, which will expand your responsibility for managing more advanced trades.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Primary responsibilities at the outset of this role will include the following:
- Develop a thorough understanding of Progressive’s investment philosophy, strategies, and portfolio implementation procedures
- Daily monitoring of all client portfolios to ensure alignment with their asset allocation target and allowable variance.
- Working in partnership with the lead trader, propose recurring or as-needed portfolio trades consistent with Progressive’s investment philosophy.
- Analyze Investment Team processes and implement efficiency improvements, such as software or workflow structures.
- Contribute periodic analyses and data management to support investment decisions.
- Maintain accurate portfolio management software data, including securities classifications for client reporting, compliance, or other business purposes
- Participate in team meetings and maintain records of content and action plans.
- Aggregate, report, and analyze equity and fixed income portfolio data from a range of sources, including corporate reporting, Environmental, Social, and Governance research, proxy voting service providers, and Bloomberg.
EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
We are seeking candidates with the following qualifications:
Required:
- Education: Bachelors degree
- Minimum of 3 years in a role with transferrable experience, such as investment operations
- Software: Excel. Ability to create vlookups, filters, pivot tables, and formulas.
- Software: PowerPoint. Ability to update and maintain existing presentations.
- Software: Word. Ability to update and maintain documents for a range of needs.
- Uphold rigorous ethics, privacy, and quality standards
- Possess a strong work ethic and personal discipline
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Manage multiple priorities in an accurate and timely manner
- Demonstrate strong writing skills and ability to summarize information
- Collaborate with colleagues and work together as a team to meet clients’ needs
Preferred:
- Education: Background in business, finance, or economics
- Software: Bloomberg Terminal
- Software: Microsoft SharePoint, Teams, and Outlook
- Software: Salesforce
- Software: Portfolio management and rebalancing software, such as Tamarac Reporting and Trading, Advent Moxy, Charles River IMS, Orion Eclipse, or Black Diamond Rebalancer.
- Experience with process automation and implementation of software solutions
- Experience with ESG and proxy voting analysis and tools

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
Starting salary range is $90,000 - $110,000 depending on experience

This role is based in our Lake Oswego, OR office. Hybrid-remote schedule is available with prior approval.
