Progressive Life Center, Inc. (PLC) provides culturally-sensitivity human services to children, youth and families in the District of Columbia and surrounding Maryland, throughout Greater Philadelphia, and in most of Delaware. PROGRAM OVERVIEW
The accounting department provides qualitative and quantitative finance information and reports. This information is useful in making sound financial and managerial decisions that support Progressive Life Center programs and services.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee all financial operations to ensure accurate financial reporting, compliance, and efficient fiscal management of PLC resources.
- Supervise all HQ accounting staff and provide dotted line supervision of program accounting staff.
- Establish and maintain internal controls to monitor accounting data, transactions and other relevant processes. Ensure proper implementation of such controls.
- Manage internal and external financial audits.
- Prepare and monitor organization wide budgets to include but not limited to analyzing trends affecting budget needs, ensuring budget is accurate, complete, and conforms to state and federal regulations, and consult with directors to ensure budget adjustments are made in accordance with program changes.
- Assist with budget preparations for RFP productions and program renewals.
- Provide insightful financial analysis to support strategic decision-making.
- Collaborate with executive leadership, board members, and program managers to uphold the organization's financial health and support its mission.
- Evaluate, implement, and improve financial systems to streamline operations and increase efficiency.
- Recommend and implement process improvements and technology solutions to enhance financial reporting and operational effectiveness.
- Ensure reconciliation of any variations in the input and output data, make note of any deficiency and take necessary corrective action while conferring with the President / CEO regarding the effect of any deficiency and proposed solution.
- Review and approve monthly bank reconciliation statements.
- Provide oversight and management for accounts receivable, general journals, and general ledgers.
- Review and approve vouchers for governmental payments, payroll tax reports, and other accounting reports.
- Generate monthly and quarterly financial reports.
- Ensure all fiscal and accounting data connected with the acquisition, operations, and disposition of state and federal government contracting has been properly entered, reviewed and approved in the accounting system.
- Provide technical support / assistance and training for all accountants in respect of PLC Accounting Technology and other related training.
- Assist with grant and contract management responsibilities related to accounting.
- Review and approve personnel requisition forms to ensure budget supports advertisement and hiring needs.
- Manage, delegate, and complete responsibilities of absent accountants.
- Attend and participate in internal and external meetings and trainings.
- Plan and complete tax preparation. Ensure completeness of filing.
- Provide oversight of tax assignments delegated to staff.
- Other duties assigned.
