Progressive Life Center, Inc. PROGRAM OVERVIEW
The Adolescent Clubhouse provides recovery support for adolescents, age 12-17, who have either completed or are currently engaged in substance abuse treatment. The Adolescent Club House provides customized support for recovery in ways that traditional adolescent addiction treatment programs cannot. By combining a recovery-support model with evidence-based programs that are designed to attract young people, the Clubhouse will provide opportunities for socializing with others in recovery, while offering assistance with education, employment and other needed services. By strengthening youth engagement in both substance abuse treatment and other important systems, the clubhouse aims to enrich positive adolescent development through schools and families.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide assistance to the Maryland Department of Health, Behavioral Health Administration in expanding the full continuum of resiliency and recovery-oriented services in Maryland to support youth (12-17) recovering from a substance use disorder.
- Work closely with Program Director to ensure service delivery of clubhouse model.
- Research and implement daily group-based activities suitable for engaging youth.
- Establish professional and advocacy-based relationships with community agencies, substance abuse and mental health programs, resource centers, and schools.
- Attend community health fairs and other external systems to promote and advocate for clubhouse.
- Facilitate specialized groups for families impacted by substance abuse.
- Provide information and opportunities for individuals in need of recovery and advocacy services.
- Implement a prevention / intervention -based curriculum in the school system for affected youth.
- Serves as liaison for clubhouse referrals.
- Provide psychoeducation during quarterly clubhouse resource nights.
- Provide small Saturday brunch and learn groups to youth affected by substance abuse.
- Engage with youth at the Adolescent Clubhouse
- Improve hope and optimism of program participants.
- Support symptom reduction, increase self-esteem, and build overall health and wellness of participants.
- Reduce workplace stigma surrounding substance use and co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.
- Inform non-peer staff about recovery from a youth perspective.
- Engage youth in evidence-based practices and recovery support.
- Provide supervision on off-site outings.
- Maintain Clubhouse attendance records.
- Award and monitor Challenge Points.
- Maintain electronic records using PLC and program specific database software.
- Other duties as assigned.
