What are the responsibilities and job description for the Outside Sales position at Progressive Lighting?
This position will report directly to the Regional Sales Manager and abide by company rules as enforced in the Showrooms by Store Management as pertaining to Showroom standards and other required duties within the Showrooms. An Outside Salesperson working for Progressive Lighting is expected to manage and complete the entire sales cycle from prospect identification through account set up and account maintenance. The company established processes are as follows:
- Identify account prospects for the purchase of goods and services available from Progressive Lighting through the use of lead sheets, cold calling, and both internal and external contacts within the lighting industry.
- Contact these prospects, on a regular basis, for the purpose of establishing a relationship resulting in sales of goods and services provided by Progressive Lighting.
- Conduct on site job takeoffs, on a regular basis, with the purpose of selling product and services to the account by recommending additional selections and upgrades of goods and services provided by Progressive Lighting.
- Secure referral leads from these customers allowing the salesperson to identify additional prospects, repeating the cycle and continually growing their business.
- Maintain regular contact with each account and be aware of any specific wants and needs on these accounts, in order to provide the best service available.
- Maintain all files, records, and reports in accordance with company standards and expectations.
- Work within our Showrooms as needed to assist with providing proper sales coverage for our retail customers on an as needed basis.
- Fully understand and utilize the company computer system to maximize the customer sales experience and expedite product delivery to the customer.
In order to fulfill these responsibilities, the Outside Salesperson will be expected to have knowledge of customer-focused selling strategies and techniques. While expertise in the field of lighting and equipment is beneficial, Progressive Lighting will also provide salespeople with ongoing training as needed on industry developments, vendor / material specifications and standard practices.
