Job Summary: The Import/Export Manager will oversee and manage all aspects of the import and export processes within the company. This role is crucial to ensuring the timely and efficient delivery of products to our international and domestic customers, while adhering to all relevant regulations and company policies. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in logistics, supply chain management, international trade compliance, and the ability to accurately classify goods using the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS).
Key Responsibilities:
Import/Export Operations Management:
- Coordinate and manage all import and export activities, including documentation, customs clearance, shipping, and delivery.
- Ensure compliance with international trade regulations, customs laws, and company policies.
- Develop and implement strategies to optimize the import/export process, reduce costs, and improve efficiency.
Documentation and Compliance:
- Prepare and review all necessary documentation for import and export shipments, including invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, and certificates of origin.
- Ensure accurate and timely filing of import/export documentation with relevant authorities.
- Classify products accurately using the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) codes and ensure proper declaration to customs authorities.
- Stay updated on changes in international trade regulations and update company policies accordingly.
Logistics and Supply Chain Coordination:
- Work closely with suppliers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and transportation companies to ensure smooth and timely delivery of goods.
- Monitor and track shipments, resolving any issues that may arise during transit.
- Manage relationships with logistics service providers to negotiate favorable terms and rates.
Reporting and Analysis:
- Prepare regular reports on import/export activities, including shipment status, costs, and performance metrics.
- Analyze data to identify trends, opportunities for improvement, and areas of concern.
- Present findings and recommendations to senior management.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, International Trade, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in import/export management
- Strong knowledge of international trade regulations, customs procedures, and compliance requirements.
- Proficiency in classifying goods using the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) codes.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to manage multiple shipments simultaneously.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with suppliers, customers, and service providers.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with ERP systems.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
