FIRE SYSTEM APPLICATION ENGINEER (Permanent)

Our client, an established international manufacturing company, is looking to add a Fire System Application Engineer to join their growing team.   This position supports the East Coast of the USA with regular travel nationally.

Responsibilities :

  • Perform daily responsibilities that support Sales and Applications Engineering teams, third party contractors and fire representatives, and clients regarding the design, function, and installation of fire pump systems for customers on-site & remotely
  • Support training initiatives in the field regarding company fire pumps, startups, and packages & controls
  • Effectively evaluate customer inquiries vs. design and application, with a thorough understanding of P&I drawings, to ensure the best use of Company products to maintain compliance and safety standards
  • Proactively review drawings, specs, and BOM’s for accuracy / errors on both maintenance and retrofit projects prior to Engineering team and Contractors receiving details
  • Actively engage with Customers, alongside Sales representatives, to clearly detail the intricacies of projects, identify solutions to potential issues, reinforce benefits of specific products / systems, and ultimately drive business & secure the sales
  • Ensure the appropriate Company products are selected and secured for each unique project
  • Effectively communicate necessary product changes to global sales and service teams
  • Participate in the training of 3

party Contractors handling the commissioning, service, and installation of sprinkler systems

  • Perform a series of tests, checks, and evaluations on equipment during the startup process to ensure optimal performance
  • Ensure compliance and fire codes are maintained at all times, remaining up-to-date with each jurisdiction as changes arise
  • Provide on-site training to 3

    • party contractors and on-site operators during and after installation

  • Complete special projects when needed
  • Other duties as assigned / as necessary

    • Details :

  • Position is full time; direct hire
  • This position supports the East Coast, so someone living in or willing to relocate to New England, Boston, NYC, Philadelphia, DC, or similar areas.
  • Up to 50% travel required
  • 80,000 - $150,000 annually depending on experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • 5 years’ experience in a fire / life safety environment in an engineering capacity
  • Possess an understanding of Fire Pump Curves and thermo-hydraulics
  • Knowledge of NFPA regulations and testing requirements by jurisdiction
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Great interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal), as this position works closely with customers
  • Strong organization skills and time management skills
  • Extreme attention to detail
  • Self-motivated
  • Possess strong analysis and assessment skills, as well as creative problem-solving skills
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States; Visa sponsorship is not available
