Job Description
At the Progressive Vision Institute, we are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated individual to join our team as a Medical Assistant. This full-time position offers a range of responsibilities, including but not limited to:
- Providing exceptional patient care and support
- Assisting physicians with laser procedures and minor surgery
- Maintaining accurate and consistent documentation and measurement tasks
- Performing visual acuity and pinhole tests, Schimer's tests, and other ophthalmic procedures
- Communicating effectively with patients, staff, and physicians
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Escorting patients from the waiting room to examination rooms
- Maintaining a smooth flow of patients to the physician
- Providing back-up to the ophthalmic photographer regarding fundus, exterior, and anterior segment photos
- Determining which patient should be taken next from the waiting room to have testing initiated
- Advising patients on their treatment plan and providing education on ocular emergencies, prescription refills, and patient care questions
Requirements
To be considered for this role, you must possess:
- A high school diploma or equivalent
- Two years of experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in ophthalmology
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Positive team member attitude
- Demonstrated ability to perform comprehensive work-ups
