Ophthalmic Support Specialist at Progressive Vision Institute
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Ophthalmic Support Specialist to join our team at Progressive Vision Institute. As an integral part of our healthcare staff, you will provide exceptional support to our ophthalmologists, patients, and families.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist ophthalmologists with laser procedures and minor surgery, maintaining the highest standards of sterile technique and infection control.
• Conduct comprehensive work-ups, including visual acuity tests, manual lensometry, confrontational visual fields, stereo testing, and other diagnostic procedures as required.
• Escort patients from the waiting room, ensuring a smooth flow of patients to the physician's office.
• Provide back-up support to the ophthalmic photographer for fundus, exterior, and anterior segment photos.
• Collaborate with the reception team to facilitate proper patient flow and respond to telephone inquiries regarding ocular emergencies, prescription refills, and patient care questions.
Requirements:
• High school diploma or equivalent is required; two years' experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in ophthalmology, is preferred.
• Advanced comprehension of ophthalmic assistant skills, optics, and principles of refraction and contact lenses.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Ability to perform duties in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks effectively and adapting to changing situations.
• Strong attention to detail, with a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards in all aspects of work.
