What are the responsibilities and job description for the Engineer/Designer (PLS-CADD) position at Progressive?
We have a current opportunity for Engineers and Designers with PLS-CADD experience in Glen Allen, VA. This role will develop, design, analyze and evaluate transmission facility additions/modifications.
Qualifications/Experience:
- Four-year accredited Engineering Degree, Electrical Engineering preferred. (Engineer II/III)
- Four-year engineering/engineering technology degree, Electrical Engineering preferred. (ETS II/III)
- At least years knowledge and working experience in Transmission Line Engineering and PLS-CADD.
- Ability to perform in a high pace, multi-task environment and to independently plan and organize work schedule.
- Communication and interpersonal skills necessary to effectively interact with project teams, customers, other utilities, and government agencies.
- Knowledge of engineering theories, principles, standards, codes, concepts, and their application to problem solutions.
- Strong computer skills and application of pre-packaged software programs.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Willingness to make effective business decisions based on analysis and abstract thinking.
- Ability to coordinate multiple tasks and prioritize work based on customer need.
Responsibilities:
- Provide conceptual scoping, design and estimates for high voltage transmission line projects. This will include, but not limited to, building new lines, re-building and modifying existing facilities, fiber installations, and customer relocations.
- Apply engineering theories, principles, and practices that contribute to safe, reliable, and cost-effective transmission line designs.
- Provide conceptual analysis and evaluation of high voltage electric transmission line facilities.
- Select most cost-effective solution to achieve desired reliability for a given project.
- Support projects through the State Cooperation Commission application process.
- Interface with other departments or groups such as Project Management, Construction, Supply Chain, Permitting & Route Selection, Real Estate, Right of Way Administration, and Transmission O&M.
