GENERAL SUMMARY
The Payroll Administrator is responsible for all tasks necessary to accomplish the organization’s multi-state payroll processing objectives with a high degree of confidentiality. This position requires a detail-orientated person with significant knowledge of payroll administration, including state and federal regulations.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Implements, maintains, and reviews payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.
- Prepares and processes bi-weekly payroll for New York and New Jersey states.
- Runs reports from EHR system to reconcile and process dentist's payroll and commission.
- Prepares and processes monthly provider commissions.
- Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.
- Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates.
- Adds new hires and temporary employees to the ADP payroll system with accuracy.
- Resolves payroll discrepancies and irregularities.
- Prepares and maintains accurate records and reports of payroll transactions.
- Identifies and recommends updates to payroll processing software, systems, and procedures.
- Ensures and assists managers in proper completion of timesheets and other payroll documents.
- Reviews and processes quarterly and year-end reporting.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Solid understanding of federal and state wage and hour laws including payroll, taxes, withholding, deductions and garnishments.
- Extensive knowledge of the payroll function including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office.
- Proficient with payroll software particularly ADP WorkforceNow.
