Position Summary:
The Clinical Programmer will join the Medical Physicist team and will participate in software, web and database developments that are integrated into the clinical practice for patient radiation treatment. The main function of this role is to provide programming support on a wide variety of radiological, diagnostic, and therapeutic systems or clinical/dosimetry electronic systems in a hospital environment. This role will also provide programming expertise in all aspects of evaluation, selection, installation, maintenance, operation, and safety of these systems.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop user-friendly interface and database that could facilitate patient data exchange among Varian Eclipse treatment planning system, independent dose calculation engine and quality assurance program
- Design and implement an efficient automatic patient data review and check
- Assist in the maintenance of the data exchange with collaborated hospitals
- Investigate and validate the functionality of the communication between different software including treatment planning system, diagnostic facility, oncology information system and delivery system
- Assist in developing active database with web services to support research and clinical activities.
- Comply with all New York Proton Center policies related to Privacy Rules established under the Health Information Privacy and Portability Act of 1996 (HIPAA)
- Perform other job-related duties, as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelors’ degree in Computer or Information Science, or related technical field(s)
- Strong programming skills with C#, MATLAB and Python
- Experiences with Eclipse API scripting (C#) and image processing preferred
- Scripting and programing experience on radiation oncology or health care are highly preferred.
- Must possess strong technical problem-solving skills
- Strong oral and written communication skills
