Job Summary
The Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) plays a critical role in ensuring the safe use of radiation in medical and research settings. Duties
- Develop and maintain radiation safety policies and procedures in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Conduct regular inspections of facilities and equipment to ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Provide training and education to staff on radiation safety protocols, including the proper use of protective equipment.
- Monitor radiation levels and maintain accurate records of exposure for staff and patients.
- Collaborate with medical imaging teams to ensure safe practices during procedures such as PET scans and nuclear medicine evaluations.
- Respond to incidents involving radiation exposure or contamination, conducting investigations as necessary.
- Stay updated on advancements in medical imaging technology and regulatory changes affecting radiation safety.
Skills
- Proficient in scanning techniques relevant to nuclear medicine.
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology as it pertains to diagnostic evaluation.
