Are you seeking seasonal or on-call work for 2025 and have experience in construction, public works, or the trades? proHNS LLC is seeking an on-call Construction Inspector who will be responsible for ensuring civil, utility, marine, and/or facility construction conforms to project plans and specifications. They shall communicate regularly with the Contractor’s foreman to remain apprised of all construction activities and will be responsible for inspecting excavation and fill operations, the placement of forms for concrete, concrete mixing and pouring, asphalt paving, grading operations, utility removal/installation, facility erection, and other activities. The Construction Inspector will handle the measurement and tracking of pay item quantities, preparation of source documents, and preparation of Inspector Daily Reports to reflect construction progress. The Construction Inspector will often work without direct oversight for extended periods and must be comfortable coordinating verbally and electronically with proHNS engineers, project managers, client representatives, members of the public, and contractors. This position may also be trained for and tasked with basic field sampling and testing of construction materials, such as in-place density of earthwork and aggregates as well as testing of concrete for slump, air content, and the forming of cylinders for compressive strength testing.
Fluency with computers and electronic reporting, using Microsoft Excel, Word, or Adobe, is a must for the successful candidate.
Keys to Success:
- Perform duties and responsibilities in accordance with proHNS policies & procedures.
- Coordinate with a team of engineers, inspectors, sub-consultants, and other representatives.
- Experience working on airport, highway, bridge, marine, public and/or private projects.
- Experience working for or on behalf of contractors, engineering firms, municipalities, state or federal government agencies.
Minimum Qualifications:
- At least five seasons of experience in construction inspection, materials testing, construction surveying, or equivalent. In lieu of experience, formal education in construction management, construction technologies or engineering will be considered.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and good driving record.
- While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to sit. The employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is regularly required to stand; walk and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Expectations:
- Must have a willingness to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, and overtime when needed.
- Ability to work seamlessly in a teamwork setting with staff working from locations outside of the position’s assigned office.
- Willingness and ability to perform site visits and construction inspections in a variety of outdoor settings and climate conditions.
- Ability to occasionally travel away from home for a few days to a few weeks at a time using commercial airlines, smaller airplanes, helicopters, or boats.

Compensation and Benefits:
Employees who work a minimum of 480 hours annually are eligible to participate in our company 401k plan with up to a 4% contribution from the employer. proHNS pays for expenses associated with licensure as well as an annual performance bonus. The wage range for this position is $30-$50 per hour, DOE.
