We are seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic Part-Time Youth Support Specialist or Counseling Student to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong desire to make a positive impact on the lives of at-risk youth. This role involves facilitating group activities, providing mentorship, and ensuring the safety and well-being of youth participating in our afterschool program. This position offers valuable hands-on experience for individuals pursuing careers in counseling, social work, or related fields.
Responsibilities:
- Group Facilitation:
- Lead and facilitate engaging and age-appropriate group activities, including discussions, workshops, and recreational activities.
- Create a safe and inclusive group environment that encourages participation and open communication.
- Youth Mentorship and Support:
- Build positive and supportive relationships with youth, serving as a mentor and role model.
- Provide psychoeducational groups, individual support and guidance to youth as needed.
- Supervision and Safety:
- Supervise youth during program hours, ensuring their safety and well-being.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate with other staff members and volunteers to ensure a cohesive and effective program.
- Participate in staff meetings and training sessions as needed.
Qualifications:
- Experience working with youth, particularly at-risk youth, is highly desirable.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and group facilitation skills.
- Ability to build rapport and establish trusting relationships with youth.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical and organizational guidelines.
- Ability to pass a background check.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $15.00 - $16.00 per hour
