Youth Learning Programs Challenge Course Facilitator
Project Adventure (PA) is a nonprofit organization with an established history and reputation as a leader in
adventure-based learning and has been developing challenge course programs since 1971. These
programs empower youth to experience and practice social and emotional learning skills such as
leadership, teamwork, problem-solving, and conflict resolution.
Job Summary:
Project Adventure is hiring (as needed) seasonal facilitators for our growing youth learning programs. The
primary focus of this position is the delivery of direct services to Youth Learning Program clients based out
of our Beverly, MA office. Employment will begin in spring or fall and may vary depending upon staffing
needs and candidate availability. Generally, the busy season is May-June and September-October, with
day programming (no overnights) occurring on weekdays and occasional weekends.
We are looking for individuals who have strong facilitation and challenge course backgrounds, can deliver
single and multi-day programs, are comfortable and experienced in working with diverse groups of school-
aged populations, and are looking to work in a fun, rewarding, and fast-paced environment. Candidates
with 2 years of experience with challenge courses preferred.
Skills Needed:
- High and Low Challenge Course facilitation and/or top rope climbing.
- Knowledge of adventure models (Challenge by Choice, Full Value Commitment, and Experiential
- A repertoire of cooperative games and problem-solving initiatives.
- Skilled in managing and connecting with groups ranging from 4th grade through college.
- Ability to put together a day-long sequence of activities related to group goals/needs.
Please note that individuals must have current First Aid and CPR certification. Our interview process
includes a phone or in-person interview, as well as attendance of a full shadow day (uncompensated) on
the course in Beverly, MA.
