Employment Position: Financial Specialist
Location: Fort Chaffee, Arkansas
This position is for a full-time Financial Specialist onsite at the Office of Secure Transportation (OST) facility at Fort Chaffee, Arkansas.
Responsibilities:
- Provide customer support to federal employees, including technical assistance in completing official travel and federal payroll documents.
- Perform basic clerical duties to include proper maintenance and destruction of official records.
- Responsible for maintaining authorization documents for official government travel.
- Responsible for processing travel vouchers for federal employees.
- Complete payroll data entry reports for OST Federal Agents and Staff.
- Perform quality control checks for federal payroll and travel documents, ensuring compliance with all federal regulations.
- Train new federal employees to properly complete payroll and travel documents.
- Provide support for other tasks and duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Must have a four-year degree (or high school diploma or state equivalent and 4 years of experience) plus 3 years of relevant work experience.
- Relevant experience for this position involves experience in either travel or payroll for private/government sector.
- Experience and demonstrated proficiency in use of all Microsoft Office applications to include SharePoint.
- Familiarity with government travel and payroll systems such as ConcurGov, and ATAAPS.
- Familiarity with Government Travel Regulations.
- Must be detail-oriented with an ability to scrutinize completed forms and identify and correct errors.
- Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently to complete tasks.
- Must obtain and maintain an “L” security clearance. The candidate’s written consent to conduct a background check for the purposes of maintaining a security clearance will be required as a condition of employment.
- Pre-employment and ongoing reviews and tests for the absence of any illegal substances will be conducted as a requirement for ongoing access to DOE sites. The candidate’s written consent to conduct such tests will be required as a condition of employment.
Desired or Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with processing, storage and transmittal of controlled unclassified information.
- Knowledge of DOE sites and types of operation.
- Must be self-motivated and have the ability to define and achieve goals with little supervision.
Physical Demands:
- Able to sit for extended periods and perform work in an office environment, including extensive use of computers.
