Job Summary 

This position will manage financial transactions related to real estate development projects, including recording project expenses and draws, managing the development cash accounts, analyzing budgets, preparing financial reports, and ensuring financial compliance throughout the development process. In addition, this position will also provide financial support to asset management and housing operations departments under the direction of the Corporate Controller. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  The following duties are normal for this position.  These duties are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive.

  • Oversee and maintain accounting records in conformance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Accurately records journal entry transactions into the general ledger and completes monthly general ledger account reconciliations.
  • Generates financial reports as required to meet monthly, quarterly, and annual processes.
  • Provides analytical support regarding budget variances, financial statement accounts and financial performance metrics; answers accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data.
  • Manage accounting transactions for PPL’s real estate development department, including cash management for development funds, monthly accrual and receipt tracking of developer fees
  • Work with PPL’s real estate development team members to determine reporting needs
  • Provide support to the annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting processes
  • Provides year-end support to the annual audit process and requirements for the preparation of audit work papers.
  • Provides support to the establishment and documentation of accounting policies, internal controls and operating procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or directed.
  • Maintains a focus on process improvements and ways to gain greater efficiencies.
  • Provides additional support to the Corporate Controller, Real Estate Development Team and other departments as needed.
  • Provides additional support to the Accounting Manager and Corporate Controller as needed.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Minimum Requirements:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

  • Understanding of financial statements, general ledgers, trial balances, accounting theory, and accounting software systems.
  • Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
  • Experience with affordable housing real estate development programs is highly desired
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organization and problem-solving skills.
  • Flexibility with work direction and job duties.
  • Willingness to cross-train with other members of the finance and real estate development teams.
  • Ability to work under and meet assigned deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively across the organization and with various departments and levels of management.
  • Interest in developing greater cultural competency and engaging in a workplace culture focused on race equity
  • Experience with Yardi and/or Sage/Intacct is a plus.

 Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • 2-5 years of financial accounting experience
  • Or a combination of education and experience 

Salary: $65,000.00-$70,000.00 Yr., DOQ

Hours: Standard business hours - 40 hours per week
