What are the responsibilities and job description for the Education Mentor position at Project Genesis, Inc.?
Project Genesis, Inc. seeks Mentors to work 1:1 with students in community settings in Killingly and Plainfield. Mentors in our Special Education Support Services Program work one-on-one with students in community settings assisting students in transitioning from high school into their adult lives.
Experience in human services, coaching or education required. Knowledge of mental health related issues, behavior management and transition skills including job coaching, functional academics, and daily living skills preferred. Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills and be able to work independently. Must have reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, ability to obtain an Endorsement A license upon hire and be willing to travel within a 30 miles radius.
Relevant Job Duties:
- Helping students complete basic academics
- Teaching job skills and career exploration
- Teaching independent living and social skills
Full Time Schedules Available during Weekday Day hours.
Requirements:
- 1 year Experience in human services, education in disabilities, and/or education.
- Be at least 18 years of age
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Reliable transportation, good driving record, valid driver's license and proof of insurance
- Ability to obtain an Endorsement A license upon hire, which includes having had a license for 3 years
Preferred:
- Bachelors degree or higher in human services, social work, special education, or related field
- Experience with disabilities, teaching/coaching/mentoring
- Teaching experience
- Spanish speaking
