Job Summary
Works as a Recreation Specialist with individuals as assigned by the Supervisor. Provides support, coaching, establishing accommodations, and retention services. All services shall be goal-focused and related to community integration. The Recreation Specialist will promote the individual’s development of community integration and identify mentors and natural supports within the environment to enhance independence in the integrated market while representing Project id professionally and mission-focused. When applicable, provide volunteer site or group site search support.
Job Duties
- Provide 1:1 and or group support and coaching to individuals volunteering in the community or preparing to interact in the community.
- Actively participate as a member of the individual’s support team as assigned.
- Assist in the development of an accurate task analysis system for community volunteer positions.
- Provide management retention services to individuals volunteering in the community to ensure their success.
- Assist individuals with adhering to their schedules.
- Provide search services to assist individuals in securing volunteer opportunities in the community.
- Act as liaison between individuals and their home sites.
- Assure a safe and healthy volunteer environment for the individual.
- Develop and maintain an active network of resources for volunteer site accommodations.
- Collaborate with volunteer site partners to assess accommodations for the volunteer site and identify retention services.
- Create imaginative job aids and identify assistive technology (such as flip cards) and tools to help individuals succeed.
- Provide technical assistance with accommodation and/or adaptive equipment as needed.
- Assist in the development of individual skills; assess potential obstacles to community involvement and develop strategies to overcome them.
- Maintain documentation for each individual for which services are provided.
- Perform duties in conformance with policies and procedures specified by our governing agencies and Project id.
- Ensure all services and billing information conform to Spokane County contract requirements.
- Follow department protocols for case notes, documentation, monthly outcomes and performance goals.
- Report suspicions of abuse, neglect, exploitation or serious incidents per Project id and County/State policies and procedures.
- Complete incident, accident, and seizure reports as needed.
- Maintain positive and effective communication and feedback through daily follow-up through email, and phone with team members on assignment outcome and time served.
· Participate in ongoing staff development
- Attend all scheduled meetings.
- Assist in resolving issues, barriers, and concerns.
- Accept and implement special projects as assigned by the supervisor.
- Accept other duties and responsibilities as assigned by department management.

- Maintain a valid driver’s license, car insurance, and driving record.
- Ability to obtain CPR/First Aid certification.
- Must have empathy for individuals with disabilities or disadvantages.
- Maintain confidentiality of all information regarding individuals and employees of Project id.
- Represent Project id and all its services professionally at all times in the community.

- The ability to communicate through sign language is a plus.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Strong organizational and time management skills are a must.
