What are the responsibilities and job description for the Van Driver position at Project Independence Services Inc.?
We are looking for morning and afternoon Drivers.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Must be at least 21 years of age.
2. Must have a valid, appropriate state driver's license and City of New Bedford Public Vehicle License.
3. Must have a safe driving record and experience transporting passengers.
4. Experience working with disabled and/or elderly people preferred.
5. Certified in CPR and First Aid preferred.
6. Must be able to get along well with colleagues, supervisor, participants and families.
7. Must have effective interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
8. Must be able to push, pull and lift wheelchair and participants, minimum weight of 50-75 lbs
9. Each applicant will be subject to a CORI check and a Drug and Alcohol screen.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Provide door-to-door transportation for scheduled participants to and from the Center and home.
2. Van drivers are responsible that all participants’ seat belts are secured properly.
3. Drivers are to follow all motor vehicle laws in the state, including seat belts.
4. Drivers should never leave participants unattended on the ramp/lift.
5. Drivers are responsible for maintenance of safety standards on vehicles, cleaning inside and outside of vehicle weekly and reporting all accidents or incidents.
6. Drivers maintain daily log on mileage, oil change, tune up etc., and report all van needs to supervisor.
7. Drivers are responsible for reporting all participant issues to nurse/supervisor.
8. Drivers are responsible for reporting all participants’ behavioral changes or other concerns (physical,social, emotional) to Nurse or Assistant Director.
9. Drivers are responsible for communicating any transit issues including:
a. Report into Center via C.B. any problems, concerns, changes.
b. Report any transit information to other Drivers and to the Center.
c. Report to Center when you are on your way for afternoon pick up.
d. Report any transit issues to transit supervisor and Executive Director.
e. Meet with transit supervisor and Executive Director to discuss transit issues.
10. Courtesy and respect will be given to participants and their families at all times.
11. Responsible for following the Chain of Command.
12. Responsible for other duties as needed by the Center, such as maintenance, transit for activities, snow shoveling, outside cleaning, trash.
13. Drivers provide transportation for recreational activities as needed.
14. Drivers assist with on-going Quality Improvement.
15. Drivers responsible for documentation and weekly update of all van runs.
16. Drivers respect that P.I.S.I. Van is only to be used for the business of the Center.
17. Drivers are directly responsible to Executive Director.
18. Drivers will assist as needed in program delivery.
