About the position: We are actively seeking camp nurses (NP, RN &/or LPN) for the summer of 2025. Our Camp Nurse plays a significant role in keeping our community safe. This individual will live on site at camp for the summer in a private room within the camp Health Center for the duration of their contracted time. The Camp Nurse is responsible for overseeing the health and safety of all campers and staff during camp sessions. This includes administering first aid, managing medications, maintaining health records, and providing health education to ensure a safe and healthy camp environment. Key Responsibilities:
Health and Safety:
- Provide first aid and medical care to campers and staff as needed.
- Respond to medical emergencies quickly and effectively.
Medication Management:
- Manage medications for campers and staff according to prescribed schedules.
- Maintain accurate records of all medication distribution.
Health Records:
- Review health histories and medical forms prior to campers' arrival.
- Ensure proper documentation of medical incidents and treatments.
Health Education:
- Educate campers and staff on health-related topics, including hygiene, hydration, and safety.
- Promote preventative care practices within the camp community.
Camp Participation:
- Collaborate with camp staff to integrate health and safety into camp activities.
- Attend staff meetings and provide health-related updates as necessary.
Supply Management:
- Maintain a fully stocked and organized health center.
- Order and manage medical supplies as needed.
Qualifications:
- Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Registered Nurse (RN), or equivalent certification.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification.
- Previous experience working with children or in a camp setting is preferred.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to remain calm and effective in emergency situations.
- Positive relationship building skills with young people and adults.
- Ability to create a nurturing environment.
Pay and Contract Details:
- License Reimbursement – Will Cover All Costs to Obtain a NY License for Out of State Nurses.
- Whole Summer dates are June 7th - August 11th. There is a potential for a flexible contract, but priority will be given to applicants who can commit to the entire summer.
- Travel stipend provided if applicable.
- $8,000 - 12,000 Salary for full summer given on biweekly basis.
- Room and board provided.
