What are the responsibilities and job description for the Re Entry Employment Specialist position at Project NOW, Inc.?
SUMMARY: The Re Entry Employment Specialist will advocate for and support unemployed individuals and families with felony convictions with vocational training, skill development and education to employability.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Identify and assess client employment needs.
- Assist clients in accessing available community resources/mainstream services.
- Provide information and referral to community agencies.
- Assists individuals with career exploration, job search, and educational needs.
- Provides transportation to clients seeking employment and/or education.
- Provides job related skill development.
- Train and assist clients to use online employment opportunities.
- Work with employers needing employees to offer a direct referral and hire from the program.
- Identify, create and keep current a regional listing of felon friendly employers.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Must have valid driver’s license, proof of insurance, and reliable transportation.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High School Diploma of GED required. Individuals with lived experience are preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS and WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and talk or listen. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet as associated with an office environment.
