POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of our Manager, Food Operations, the Project Open Hand (POH) Grocery Center Operations (GCO) Supervisor is the essential controller of our bustling grocery program. This position serves as the programmatic liaison between Operations, Client Services and Volunteer Services to coordinate all activities in the Grocery Center (San Francisco and Oakland) to provide the absolute best nutrition and engagement in our community. We rely on our GCO Supervisor to effectively lead and manage overall policy and procedures for our Grocery Centers as well as lead team members to execute best practices and maximize program efficacy.
The GCO Supervisor is responsible for all Grocery Center functions, including but not limited to food purchasing, receiving, preparation and maintenance of quality standards, safety, sanitation and cleanliness. The GCO Supervisor is responsible for training employees regarding purchasing, receiving, product preparation and maintenance of quality standards, safety, sanitation and cleanliness.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
- 2 years’ experience managing process and procedures for warehouse or kitchen operations
- Experience balancing multiple projects and deadlines
- Understanding of, and ability to follow, HACCP procedures for food safety
- Strong customer service skills and ability to effectively lead a team of peers and volunteers
QUALIFICATIONS DESIRED:
- Food Safety Manager Certification
- Experience operating forklift and/or pallet jack
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborate with Operations management team to source/prioritize nutritionally appropriate products in the Grocery Center
- Maintain in-stock, inventory to serve clients
- Track expenses to control product and labor costs
- Ensure Grocery Center Operations are consistent with all aspects of federal, state and company health, safety and sanitation codes; promptly address maintenance and safety issues
- Maintain product inventory (food and supplies) to properly serve agency clients in both the San Francisco and Oakland Grocery Centers
- Prioritize and assign daily tasks to Operations Coordinator II and volunteers
- Collaborate with Volunteer Services to ensure that all volunteers are properly trained on POH and Grocery Center policies and procedures; engage volunteers within the department to support the needs of the agency
- Develop relationships with current business partners and vendors and identify key opportunities for new partnerships
- Write, edit and maintain routine program reports for Operations team
- Develop, implement and train on Computrition policies and procedures as they relate to Grocery Services, Operations
- Monitor inventory trends to inform product ordering and meal production
- Evaluate Grocery Center store conditions and operations to determine strengths and areas for improvement; reinforce strengths while developing and implementing improved practices and procedures
- Assist Manager, Food Operations to maintain equipment including the freezers and storage facilities
- Perform other related duties as assigned
