The Medical Assistant reports to the Director of Nursing Operations works to support the provider during patient care in clinics and on the mobile medical van.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Medical assistants are embedded in Primary Care Clinics to provide on-site nursing services under the direction of the Assistant Director of Nursing, Primary Care, and the Deputy/ Director of Nursing Operations.
- 35-hour week Monday- Friday Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for obtaining vital signs including pain screen and BMI
- Perform procedures including, but not limited to, EKG’s, Hearing and Vision tests, Blood Glucose, etc.
- Assist providers with examinations and chaperoning
- Perform phlebotomy, lab specimen and CLIA Waive testing processing.
- Prepare and organize supplies in examination rooms. This includes preparing examination table, ensuring that supplies are maintained in an organized manner in cabinets, and ensuring that all necessary instruments and supplies are readily available for practitioner’s use.
- Conducts template screenings on all patients (depression screening, sexual health, alcohol, drug, tobacco screenings
- Participates in weekly clinical meetings with medical staff and with shelter case management & administrative staff
- Travel to cover locations as necessary for coverage Other duties as assigned Education Credentials/Requirements:
- Experience Working with homeless individuals preferred.
