We are a local woman-owned engineering company specializing in projects working with Federal, State, Tribal and Local Government agencies throughout the United States and Internationally.Currently, we have an opening for an intern in our home office.You will work with a team of experts on a variety of projects within the Engineering division, as well as cross-functionally with all other areas of the business. Examples of our project locations include Grand Canyon, Yosemite, Shenandoah, Lake Powell and many more!Enjoy fulfilling work while making a positive impact on some of our nation’s most treasured landmarks and wilderness environments.
A successful intern will be creative, willing to take initiative, is able to be self -directed and has proven multitask abilities that shows that they can handle switching between several projects quickly. Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Ability to read, interpret, and understand the construction contract plans and specifications
- Assist Project Manager in reviewing drawings as design reviewers and changes to contract documents
- Must be able to effectively communicate with Project Managers or Senior-Level Team Members
- Performing assignments requiring application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria to carry out engineering tasks. Assignments are designed to further develop judgment and understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities. Research questions and derive answers using outside resources
- Assists with project schedules, reviews, submittals. Must be able to write reports in a technical manner
- Actively pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in: Civil, Electrical, Mechanical or Structural Engineering
- Must have completedtwo yearsof qualifying study
- Demonstrated organizational and time management skills
- Capable of using Microsoft Office software
- Team player who thrives on collaborating with others
- Basic knowledge of engineering fundamentals
- Basic knowledge of building science fundamentals
- Ability to communicate effective both orally and in writing
- Experience in preparing correspondence, written reports, and briefing clients and management personnel
- Knowledge of local and national codes
- Knowledge of construction means and methods
- Ability to interpret Architectural/Engineering plans and specifications
- Familiarity with modern construction products (quality, uses, and applications)
- Knowledge of commonly utilized construction management software (Kahua, Microsoft Project, Word, Excel, Primavera, etc.)
- Ability to maintain a valid driver's license
- Regularly works with others face to face, over the phone and through email. Generally, works in an office environment with moderate noise. Periodically works outside including field work in the local area and may work around moving objects, dust and dirt
