The Geophysicist role will be a remotely based position. Work will primarily focus on contributing to subsurface reviews and assessments of potential carbon storage or other energy storage/utilization potential through the use of standard subsurface evaluation workflows utilizing seismic interpretation as part of an integrated work team. Work will also support the preparation and submittal of funding opportunity proposals and required regulatory documentation that govern the different parts of the energy transition space. Routine interface with clients, partners, and colleagues is expected.
- Support all parts of applied seismic interpretation workflows for 2D and 3D seismic datasets from acquisition to final interpretation (survey design, processing oversight, interpretation, velocity modeling, etc.) utilizing standard interpretive workflows.
- Serve as company liaison for seismic acquisition activities (permitting, 2D, 3D, 4D, safety program) including field seismic activities.
- Be a key contributor in the planning, execution and evaluation of exploration wells, data gathering programs, and integration of industry best practices and latest technology.
- Perform geophysical exploration and evaluation utilizing seismic data (refraction, reflection, etc.), resistivity, gravity, magnetic, and other geophysical measurement products.
- Stay current with new technology developments and integrate new technology and methods to improve analytical workflows.
- Prepare screening studies for new developments and evaluate public/private well and seismic data for purchase.
- Assist in preparation of well permits, regulatory documents, grants, technical reports, and other work as needed.
- Conduct lookbacks and ensure lessons learned are captured and applied moving forward.
- Effectively utilize advanced geotechnical software tools in the interpretation process (Petrel, Geographix, OpenDtect, HamptonRussell, Move, etc.).
- Assist with seismic data storage management.

- Technical skills – Intermediate to advanced geophysical principles, geomechanical principles, structural mapping, and applied petrophysical log analysis.
Supervisor: Senior Regional Geologist
Supervision of contractor field personnel for seismic acquisition or as assigned.
- BS or higher in geology or geophysics from an accredited university or college with 2 years of relevant, professional work experience
- 3-7 years experience working in geophysics or applied geophysics roles is preferred.
- Experience interpreting 2D and 3D seismic data is desired.
- Experience in energy transition technologies, oil and gas, mining, geothermal, environmental, or affiliated industry.
- Requires a valid driver’s license.
- Work authorization for the United States.
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Some travel will be required (<15%).
The Geophysicist I position will be Grade(s) 8-12, depending upon experience and qualifications, with an annual salary range of $70,000-127,000 and a target performance incentive of 3-7% of annual salary. This salary range is Projeo’s good faith estimate, and the actual salary may vary based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, Projeo’s business or organizational needs and an individual’s relevant experience, education, qualifications, certifications, skills, seniority, geographic location, and/or performance. Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the annual salary, grade level ranges, and Target Performance Incentive ranges. The range listed is just one component of Projeo’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include paid time off, career advancement and region-specific benefits.
