What Does Prolec GE Waukesha Do?
JOB SUMMARY |
To prepare and apply paints, lacquers or enamels to products where required meeting or exceeding company and customer quality expectations
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES |
- Receives assignments and instructions from supervisor - both oral and written.
- Prepares units for painting by cleaning, sanding surfaces, and masking as needed.
- Mixes and thins paints to the correct mixture and to a suitable consistency and viscosity for spraying and hand painting. Involves a variety of colors and special finishes.
- Adjusts and maintains equipment to obtain finish requirements and economy. Involves a variety of colors and special finishes.
- Moves units into position using conveyor, hand truck, forklift, hoist or crane; positions units in painting area for painting.
- Removes and replaces panels on sheet metal enclosures when necessary to facilitate painting.
- Maintains area and equipment in a safe, clean condition and good working order.
- Changes filters in booth and disposes properly.
- Assists the supervisor, as required, in the orientation and training of other employees.
- Read, understand, and follow guidelines set forth by E.I.s, M.P.s, S.P.s, bill of materials, SDS (Safety Data Sheets) and blueprints/drawings, paint instructions and paint specification sheets when performing assigned work.
- Comply with all safety policies and procedures and actively participate in defined zero harm safety culture driven initiatives.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES |
TOOLS AND MACHINERY
Overhead cranes, jib cranes steel tapes, rules, squares, wrenches, pliers, screwdrivers, hammers, fork lift, bink, auto mix paint system, and paint guns.
MATERIALS
Mild, stainless and alloy steel, copper, aluminum and other materials.
GENERAL
Works without direct, constant supervision and maintains a productivity level which meets or exceeds the routing standards and is acceptable to the supervisor. Be able to layout materials and setup for job. Special additional training for vapor phase equipment operation will be available to some assemblers who qualify by exhibiting highly responsible and competent work. These individuals will be selected first, by volunteering, in order of their seniority and second by their ability. Work varies from working at ground level to working in, on top of, and around the sides of the unit which may be 4 feet or more in height.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE |
High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
