What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Planner position at Prolec-GE Waukesha, Inc?
JOB SUMMARY
The Planner provides information on production planning activities to ensure efficient utilization of material inventories, production scheduling, and manufacturing capacities.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Converts the weekly shop schedules into a finite plan for each department and work center.
Recommends to supervisor work and manpower assignments as dictated by the schedule and coordinates with supervisors and planners any interdepartmental moves of personnel as required to meet schedule demands.
Recommends to department supervisor overtime as required by the schedule.
Corrects paperwork as indicated by ECO's after release to the department. Coordinates with other Planners and Supervisors the work requirements and schedule changes as needed due to any non-conformance.
Coordinates through Marketing and Engineering all customers witnessing of assembly and testing operations.
Updates daily status reports, weekly production schedules, and stock order schedules as required.
Expedites with purchasing all part shortages on overdue material. Coordinates with purchasing and advises supervisor of any rescheduling due to parts shortages that will impact the schedule.
Participates on the Continuous Improvement teams.
Assists in expediting solutions to equipment breakdowns and rework problems. Notifies Supervisor of any situations that will cause lost direct labor or disrupt timely arrival of parts to any downstream work center.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Achieve command of a bill of material structure, maintenance, costing, and the continuous improvement process within 1 to 2 years of appointment.
Good judgment, planning and administrative skills.
Good computer skills with Microsoft office products.
Interact proficiently with all levels of management and manufacturing employees in a professional manner is necessary.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Required Education / Experience
Associate's degree in a related field
One year experience in a planning field in a manufacturing environment or the equivalent
Preferred Education / Experience:
Bachelor's degree in a Business, Material or Planning field
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Key Working Relationships
Engineering organization, including mechanical, electrical, manufacturing and applications engineering groups
Operations management, including plant supervision, quality, planning, etc.
Physical Demands
Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time
Working Conditions
Shop floor and office environment, located on large manufacturing campus.
