Position Summary:
Ingalls Shipbuilding is currently seeking Pipe Insulator 1st Class candidates to support shipbuilding operations at our Pascagoula, Mississippi facility. This role involves hands-on work with insulation materials on various ship systems and requires physical stamina, precision, and a commitment to safety.
Responsibilities:
- Remove, install, and repair insulation on piping systems, ventilation systems, and structural components throughout the vessel.
- Work with insulation materials such as fiberglass, calcium silicate, and rubber-based insulation (e.g., Rubatex).
- Perform tasks in tight, confined spaces and at varying heights.
- Read and interpret job specifications, blueprints, and work instructions as required.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with company and OSHA standards.
Basic Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of pipe insulation experience in one or more of the following environments:
- Industrial
- Marine
- Shipbuilding
- Petrochemical
- Experience specifically with installing rubber insulation is required.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., and perform physically demanding tasks such as bending, climbing, crawling, and squatting for extended periods.
- Willingness to work assigned shifts based on production demands.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience on shipyard or naval construction projects is a plus.
