Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse - Operating Room to join our dynamic healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in surgical nursing and be committed to providing high-quality patient care in a fast-paced operating room environment. This role requires expertise in various nursing practices, including IV infusion and emergency medicine, as well as a passion for improving patient outcomes.
Duties
- Prepare patients for surgical procedures by conducting pre-operative assessments and ensuring all necessary documentation is complete.
- Assist surgeons during operations by providing necessary instruments, supplies, and support.
- Monitor patients' vital signs and overall condition throughout the surgical process, ensuring safety and comfort.
- Administer IV infusions and medications as prescribed, maintaining accurate records of patient care.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement effective discharge planning for post-operative care.
- Educate patients and families about post-surgical care, including home care instructions and follow-up appointments.
- Ensure compliance with infection control protocols and maintain a sterile environment in the operating room.
Skills
- Proficient in home care practices, IV insertion, and specimen collection processing.
- Knowledgeable in medical-surgical nursing principles and emergency medicine protocols.
- Familiarity with workers' compensation law as it pertains to patient care.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively under pressure.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
