Fogg Filler is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer – Fluid Process to design fluid process equipment and systems. They will design and specify fluid process systems including integrated equipment wash and sanitization systems, container and closure wash and sanitization systems, and fluid process supply skids. They will work with customers, vendors, and internal departments to ensure customer success through practical solutions. The Mechanical Design Engineer – Fluid Process will report to the Engineering Manager – Filler and Process. Responsibilities include the following:
- Create the conceptual design and component specification of fluid process systems including integrated equipment wash and sanitization systems, container and closure wash and sanitization systems, and fluid process supply skids.
- Design the mechanical and structural components necessary for integration of fluid process systems.
- Generate and maintain proper documentation of designs using P&IDs, 3D models, and 2D drawings as appropriate.
- Apply basic and advanced knowledge of liquid food processing standards for clean in place (CIP) and Sterilization in place (SIP).
- Create and maintain fluid component library for all pumps, valves, sensors, and other related equipment.
- Work with the Controls Department to develop common control sequences and methodologies for Fogg Equipment.
- Participate in the quoting process with sales as a technical resource providing feedback on request.
- Utilize sound engineering principles to design new products or modify existing ones from information provided by: other engineering designers, customer request/feedback, sales/sales engineers, manufacturing personnel, Fogg service team, or analysis of competitive products.
- Perform in depth investigation into materials, processes, and products, as assigned by management.
- Work with the Technical Writers to develop standard documentation for process and CIP skids and other Fogg Equipment as requested.
- Work with manufacturing to determine the best design to minimize labor and reduce costs.
- Assemble prototype product using power and hand tools. Lifts/moves parts weighing up to 40 pounds during engineering evaluations to determine form, fit and function.
- Coordinate with customers, suppliers, and agencies when necessary to obtain information or to support existing products, purchased parts, material selections, or manufacturing processes. Answer engineering customer service telephone calls.
- May be asked to travel for engineering field support for sales or service at customer facilities, vendors, or other ProMach sites.
- Always maintain a professional appearance when representing Fogg in a professional and courteous manner.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor of Science in engineering discipline or equivalent, preferred.
- 5 years engineering experience required; packaging industry preferred.
- Experience may include process design, chemical, controls or field maintenance.
- A solid background in fluid dynamics, flows, pumps, valves, chemical blending, and temperature management.
- Valid Passport- preferred.
- Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must have PC/Computer skills, which include knowledge of word processing, data analysis and spreadsheet applications.
- Basic working knowledge of SolidWorks or equivalent 3D CAD, preferred.
- Must be able to work in a team-oriented environment.
