Job Title: Chief Technology Officer - Conversational AI and LLMs

Location: Bay Area, CA (Hybrid – requires multiple in-person workdays per week)

Compensation: $120,000–$150,000/year Equity (negotiable, based on experience)

Job Overview:

We are an early-stage healthcare AI startup seeking a visionary technical leader to join as our CTO. This role offers a rare opportunity to shape the technical vision and strategy of a company dedicated to revolutionizing patient communication and healthcare operations through large language models (LLMs), AI chatbots, and AI video chat systems.

As CTO, you will collaborate closely with the CEO and COO to define the company’s direction, build a cutting-edge product roadmap, and position the company for market success. The role is hybrid, requiring multiple in-person workdays each week in the Bay Area to foster collaboration and drive technical progress.

Responsibilities:

• Design and develop state-of-the-art LLMs, AI chatbots, and AI video chat systems tailored for healthcare applications, such as patient support, treatment explanations, and care coordination.
• Define the technical strategy and architecture to ensure scalability, performance, and compliance with healthcare industry standards.
• Stay ahead of trends in conversational AI, NLP, and multimodal communication research, integrating innovative solutions to enhance patient engagement and outcomes.
• Build and lead a high-performing engineering team, fostering a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning.
• Develop proof-of-concepts and prototypes to validate product-market fit and refine solutions based on user feedback.
• Support the CEO and COO by contributing to investor pitch decks, presenting technical roadmaps, and participating in investor meetings and pitch sessions as needed.
• Work with the CEO and COO on funding, strategic partnerships, and go-to-market strategies to align technical and business goals.

Qualifications:

• Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Proven expertise in developing and deploying LLMs, conversational AI, or video-based AI systems.
• Strong background in natural language processing, machine learning, and real-time communication technologies.
• Experience leading an R&D team.
• Experience addressing technical trade-offs in scalability, performance, and compliance, especially in regulated industries like healthcare.
• Familiarity with the startup ecosystem, with the ability to navigate the demands of an early-stage company.
• Exceptional communication and leadership skills, with experience presenting technical concepts to investors and stakeholders.
• Passion for transforming the healthcare industry through innovative, AI-driven solutions.
