Position Summary
Schedule: May - August, 40 hrs/week
We are seeking a R&D Engineer Intern to join our team. The focus of this internship is to provide hands-on experience through supporting a variety of prototype and technology development projects. The internship will focus on supporting prototype operations, mold design/simulation, product testing, applicable project report documentation, and process development activities.

The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff. Employee moves about the building and be able to maneuver in tight spaces between desks, etc. Employee occasionally to frequently use a whiteboard, which can require grasping whiteboard pens, reaching at, below, or above shoulder height and may require trunk or neck rotation to look back. Employee may have duties involving walking on even or uneven surfaces. Employee may use computers, overhead projectors, TV, VCR, and other work-related equipment, which may require an approximately 40 pound force to push or pull equipment. It is necessary to grasp and manipulate pens, markers, scissors, staplers, etc. occasionally to frequently. Employee must see and hear on a continuous basis as well as speak frequently. Position varies from standing, sitting, walking, etc.

- Develop, troubleshoot, and support prototype molding processes
- Assists more senior level engineers in new process or technology development and implementation
- Contribute to technical reports, validations, and qualifications by capturing experimental results
- Gathers and provides data for technical reviews
- Oversees development builds associated with the project
- Design prototype tooling and/or fixtures
- and assists customers in design for manufacturability throughout the mold design process
- Assists in the designing of fixtures and tooling to facilitate product development.
- May train manufacturing when required as part of validation

Required
- Enrolled in a 2 or 4 year technical degree program or equivalent
- CAD modeling experience (SolidWorks preferred)
- Willingness to learn, ask questions, and contribute positively to ProMed's culture
- MS Office proficient
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving and time-sensitive skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills both written and verbal; professional, courteous and friendly personality; clearly conveys ideas and information and receives information effectively
- Ability to create positive working relationships
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines
- Experience in molding technology with plastic or silicone
- Knowledge and experience in the processing/assembly of silicone and/or plastic components used in the medical device industry
